Stumbled across this gem after a day of shopping in Summerlin. Wow! I feel I have a lost years of my culinary taste experiences by not finding this coastal Italian cuisine years before. The service is an experience all in its own. Yup tier and personalized. The food courses from start to finish, each one, the best I have tasted. The grilled artichokes, the cucumbers salad, the pasta dishes, and then finally an olive oil chocolate cake. I could die tomorrow knowing I have had the best of coastal Italian cuisine one could ever experience outside of Italy itself.
Really pretty Italian resto at Summerlin. Service was great and ambience was nice. 1. Frito misto: not usually a big fan of this but this was pretty good. Love the pickled peppers that came with it. 2. Foccacia with burrata: the bread was great. The burrata was more dense and not as runny as I would have hoped but it was good nonetheless with the spicy olive oil they used. 3. Rabbit papardelle: they kindly plated it for two for us. Pasta was cooked perfectly and it was good. 4. Pizza: pizza was also great. Good crust. Overall, La Strega was a pretty good place that I wouldn't mind coming back to.
My wife and I visited for an early post work dinner to celebrate a promotion! We were seated promptly in the front dining area and greeted by our server, Tevin. He made us aware of the chef's tasting menu ($85) and gave us ample time to decide on our meal. We decided to skip the bread service ($7) as neither of us are either foccacia nor ciabatta bread fans. We did enjoy the frito misto, complete with calamari, rock shrimp, crawfish, artichokes, and flavorful red pepper-like vegetables? It came with a tangy dipping sauce and we added some pasta sauce for dipping as well. For our dinners, we shared both the lobster spaghetti ($80) and the squid ink crab fra diavola. The lobster dish came with the head and tail at either end of the plate and the body replaced by delicious lobster covered pasta. Both dishes were the perfect portion and full of flavor. My wife also ordered the kale, which was, kale-like. (I took her word for it.) The only possible room for improvement would of been a bread option we both enjoyed and a bit more light overhead. The main dining room is more well lit.
It's been a while since we've eaten at La Strega and I'm glad we did. We started with the bread service (focaccia) and fritto misto. For my entree I had the Orecchiette house made pasta with maitake mushrooms, chili and truffle. It was flavorful with just a hint of spice/heat and a filling portion. Everything was delicious! Prices are reasonable, especially for the quality. Service was attentive on a busy night.
Nestled in a residential area, La Strega is an unexpected find, boasting a beautiful and upscale interior that contrasts with its unassuming location. My family and I dined here upon my sister's enthusiastic recommendation; she holds this place in high regard, and many in our larger group shared her sentiment. The ambiance is indeed impressive, and the service was attentive. However, from my personal perspective, while the food was enjoyable, it didn't quite justify the premium pricing. Given the cost, I anticipated dishes that would stand out more in terms of flavor and creativity. Considering that the rest of my family was pleased with their meals, I'd rate La Strega a 4 out of 5. If it were solely based on my individual experience, I might lean towards a 3. It's a lovely spot, especially for those who value ambiance and are less concerned about price-to-value ratio.
